I didn't set out to become a business consultant. I was an educator who loved building systems that worked. When I lost my remote job in France, I had a choice: accept the archaic advice from France Travail or treat the problem like a technical challenge.
I chose the latter. The timeline below shows how I went from classroom teacher to EdTech director to accidentally becoming a leader in launching businesses in France—the fast, lean, and compliant way.
My career began in the classroom, but quickly scaled to leadership positions focusing on designing, launching and supporting 1:1 technology initiatives.
I fell in love with France (and a French director) during a school trip. I moved here in 2015 with no plan and no job, assuming I'd figure it out. I didn't. I had to retreat to the US to rebuild my career and finances.
Worked at a small college supporting their new 1:1 iPad program. Worked alongside Apple Professional Development Experts learning about change management and training adults. Moved on to be the first Director of Digital Learning for Salem Public Schools, where I managed the strategy and budget to deploy thousands of devices.
After a stint in Kuwait (navigating COVID as a tech specialist) and upskilling in instructional design, I returned to France in 2021. This time, I landed a comfortable, high-level online job with a US company. The paycheck was great, but it kept me in an English-speaking bubble. I didn't network. I didn't integrate.
The email arrived: my "safe" job was gone. Thrown into France Travail unemployment system, I had 2 choices—face a difficult job market with inadequate French skills, or start my own business. Their advice was archaic: PowerPoints from 2005, €10,000 website quotes, months-long timelines. I rejected that reality.
Instead of following the slow path, I leaned into my background in tech, instructional design, and startup-mentality. Using AI, Airtable, Stripe, and modern automation, I launched a SASU. Legally registered and operational in 8 days for under €250.
I realized most aspiring entrepreneurs are being held back by outdated gatekeepers. I took the "scrappy" skills I used to build my own student information systems and the strategic mindset from public education, and codified them into the Zero Risk Business Blueprint.
